Sunlight (Poem)

Updated: Dec 30, 2021

Hurricane winds are forceful as they shatter windows and take down trees. They sweep through streets and overturn signs of human civilization. Animals run. Scattering leaves rush down empty roads.

They come in with rain and thunder, shaking the strongest men and women to their core. But light peers through just as the winds seem to be doing their most destructive work.

Just as the hurricane winds seem to be swirling at the height of their power, natural forces bring them to a halt. And then, just as suddenly as they began, they are brought to an eerie standstill.

And, with the sound of silence, comes the shining sun. As it shines, it shines brighter than it ever has before. The birds sing and fly, coming out of their hiding places. Yes, there is wreckage left behind. But there is still life to be lived in spite of it.
